Lisl Kuutti Doughton is an artist and cellist based in Boone, NC. Her colored pencil artwork, which features realistic natural subjects incorporating hidden words, was shown in the “Best of the Blue Ridge” juried show at the Ashe County Arts Center and was the subject of a successful show at Sunflowers Cafe in Raleigh.
Her other favorite subject is string instruments, especially the cello, often combined with landscapes; her drawing Journey to String Castlewon the $500 award for Shar Music’s Coloring Page Competition. Last but not least, Lisl has been drawing horses and unicorns since 1994 and likes to experiment with different mediums on those subjects. Lisl’s art can be found at TheLyricImage.com.
Lisl earned a M.M. in Cello Performance at Appalachian State University and a B.A. in Music and Art at Furman University. She has lived in Atlanta, Greenville (SC), Raleigh, and Osaka, Japan, where she taught English, played cello, did voice recording, and hiked all around the Kansai basin with her husband Horton. She is a member of the Blue Ridge Art Clan.
